Pollack Pancake (Dongtae Jeon)

Pollack Pancake is a popular Korean side dish that is often served during holidays and family gatherings. This recipe is simple to make and produces crispy, golden-brown fish pancakes that pair perfectly with a bowl of rice.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb frozen pollack fillets
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups Korean pancake mix
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Thaw the frozen pollack fillets and drain well. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Cut each fillet diagonally into three pieces and butterfly the thickest parts if needed.
  3. In a bowl, mix the eggs, water, and pancake mix to make a batter.
  4. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add cooking oil.
  5. Dip the pollack pieces into the batter and place them in the pan.
  6. Cook until golden brown on both sides, flipping occasionally.
  7. If there is any batter left, make small pancakes with it.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Servings: 10–15 people as a side dish
Cooking Time: About 30 minutes

My Tip

These pancakes taste great with steamed rice and a simple soy sauce dipping sauce. They can also be stored in the refrigerator and reheated the next day.
