Steamed Skate

Steamed skate is a simple and healthy seafood dish that brings out the fish's natural flavor. Paired with a savory and tangy seasoning sauce, this recipe is easy to prepare and perfect for a family meal.

Ingredients

For the Skate

1 piece skinned skate (about 3 Lbs)

For the Seasoning Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tablespoon chopped green onion
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (or garlic powder)
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash the skate thoroughly and place it in the steamer basket of a rice cooker.
  2. Turn on the rice cooker and steam until the fish is fully cooked.
  3. Check the thickest part of the fish. If there is no blood and the meat is opaque, it is done.
  4. Pour the seasoning sauce onto a serving plate and place the steamed skate on top.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

Servings

Serves 4–5 people

Cooking Time

30–35 minutes

Tip from Luna's Kitchen

If you are sensitive to fishy odors, simply add a little extra lemon juice to the seasoning sauce. The fresh citrus flavor helps brighten the dish and complements the delicate taste of the skate.

I enjoy serving this steamed skate with a bowl of hot rice and a few vegetable side dishes. It makes a comforting and satisfying meal that is both nutritious and delicious.
